I'm a first year undergraduate student at the University of Alberta, majoring in Computer Science, and have been a massive computer nerd for years.
I have years of experience working with JavaScript and other relevant neighbouring technology, in the form of many mini projects which have since been buried and lost to time. I have also worked a little bit with Minecraft modding, and even datapack development. I once upon a time worked with an Arduino, and have made a variety of small personal projects using it. Since late 2023, I have been learning and working with Rust, and it has quickly become my favourite language to work with for nearly any project.
Less seriously, I am on quite the life journey, as I am doing things that most 19 year olds would not get to do. I am a contributor to Google Summer of Code 2025, which is an amazing opportunity for me to grow into this career at such a young age. I've been working to get my life as whole on track over the past year, and I'm finally getting to a point that I'm pretty happy with, though it hasn't come easily.
More personally, I have been working out who I am for while now. I realized I was transgender around a year ago, and have been transitioning since, which is quite the journey to take. I also have just mostly drifted through my schooling and early life, and have remained extremely antisocial for years. I'm only properly starting to develop into who I want to be, and I'm learning a lot.
Should I have included such personal details in here? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm proud of who I am, and I'm not going to hide it.
